Plant Maintenance Mechanic II JobID: 12242 + Position Type: Maintenance + Date Posted: 12/9/2025 + Location: Operations Center + Closing Date: Open Until Filled    Operations School or DepartmentPlant Maintenance Mechanic II Assignment Open12/9/2025 Date 7:00 amStart Time3:30 pmEnd Time8Number of Hours/DayClass VIIClassification      1/5/2026New Assignment Date INTERNAL BIDDER: must complete an internal application on the district website by 12/16/25 @ 4:00 pmEXTERNAL APPLICANTS(will hire externally if there are no internal bidders): applications will be accepted until position is filled Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships) + $29.17 per hour + Responds to work order requests, make repairs, changes etc. with minimal supervision. + Responds to all HVAC and Plumbing calls. + Make recommendations to the Supervisor when work to be done suggests use of an outside contractor. + Ability to oversee the work performed by outside contractors from time to time as directed by the Supervisor. + Assists in the maintenance and upkeep of HVAC equipment including Chillers, GeoThermal systems, Heat pumps, boilers, RTU’s etc. + Must have a strong HVAC background and understand heating and cooling system strategies. + Must be able to ready HVAC electrical schematics and make repairs to such equipment. + Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and troubleshoot a variety of electrical equipment. + Operates plow trucks, tractors, mowers and other field maintenance equipment when needed. + Examines District owned HVAC equipment and performs preventative maintenance as directed. + Knowledge of plumbing systems and repairs. + Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. Physical Requirements of Position: + Must be able to lift 70lbs. + Able to walk up and down stairs and work from step ladders , extension ladders, scaffold and lifts. + Ability to work in a variety of environments including heights, outdoors in adverse weather and in confined spaces. + Ability to climb, balance, stoop or kneel frequently. Special Qualification Desired: (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.) + High school graduate. + Experience in commercial and industrial maintenance of HVAC and electrical equipment. + Demonstrate a commitment to multicultural nonsexist policies and practices. + Excellent communication abilities with supervisors and fellow District employees. + Proven ability to be a positive force in a competitive work environment. + Able to follow oral and written instructions. + Excellent driving record and valid driver's license required. + Criminal record verification required. + Work shifts may vary based upon the needs of the District. + This job description is a general outline only of the duties and responsibilities and is not intended to be all-inclusive.
