The position is responsible for providing lead work direction to staff in the operation of the St. Cloud Physical Plant Operations, which involves repair and maintenance of all heating and ventilation system in the institution, repair and maintenance of all refrigeration and energy management systems as needed, relief of engineers in the power plant as necessary, repair and maintenance of high-pressure steam boilers and associated equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: + Maintain, repair and perform preventative maintenance and upgrade all HVAC Equipment including controls, air handlers and energy management system. Respond to emergency calls when contacted during normal work hours and staying until systems can be restored to normal as soon as possible. + Install, maintain and repair all refrigeration units in the institution in an approved and environmentally safe way. This would include air conditioners, refrigeration systems, ice machines and water coolers. + Maintain, repair and install natural gas and oil-fired equipment. Will assist the Chief Engineer with coordinatizing and repairs of power plant equipment + Relieve the Stationary Engineers in the Power Plant when necessary and assist with maintenance and repair of Power Plant equipment as needed + Supervise, count, train, direct and evaluate Incarcerated Person(s) who are assigned to work crews and/or the Maintenance Department so security, Incarcerated Person(s) discipline regulations, and institution regulations are upheld. + Ensure all preventive maintenance work orders are complete, correct, and recorded in the Archibus facilities management system. + Will be the designated Chief Engineer in charge per state status in the absent of the Chief Engineer only for licensing purposes This position has direct contact with incarcerated persons. **Minimum Qualifications** To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. + Current licensure in the State of Minnesota as a First-Class Grade B Engineer and the ability to obtain Chief B within three years of hire. + Current EPA Universal Certifications or the ability to obtain certifications within the probationary period. + Leadership skills sufficient to provide leadwork direction that includes prioritizing and assigning job duties, directing, guiding and reporting on work activities of other staff. **Preferred Qualifications** The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position: + Current license as a Mechanical Installer Class B from the City of St. Cloud. + Experience in providing lead work direction to other employees, preferably experience in leading licensed and unlicensed trades employees. + Knowledge and experience in mechanical, electrical, HVAC and energy management system maintenance and repair, steam and hot water heating and associated apparatus including refrigeration systems. **Physical Requirement** The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis screening, commercial drivers license (CDL) drug test, and/or respirator clearance.
