Job Title: Plant Controller (Construction)
Job Description
The Plant Controller will take charge of all accounting and financial control functions for the plant and construction operations. This role involves managing work-in-progress (WIP), job costing, cost accounting, and project tracking. You will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the financial integrity of projects.
Responsibilities
Own all accounting and financial control for the plant and construction operations, including WIP, job cost, cost accounting, and project tracking.Maintain accurate job cost reports across project, phase, and cost code.Track committed versus actual costs and proactively flag variances.Process purchase orders, vendor invoices, and subcontractor pay applications, including AIA.Oversee construction loan documentation, construction draws, payments, and supporting schedules.Coordinate with project managers, procurement, and operations to resolve discrepancies.Manage monthly close for plant and job-related activities, including WIP schedules, revenue/cost accruals, and cost roll-ups.Support project-level forecasting, budget updates, and cash flow modeling.Maintain clean, complete, and auditable records for all projects.Strengthen accounting processes, controls, and reporting as the company scales.Leverage NetSuite and other construction/ERP systems to drive reporting improvements.Essential Skills
4–8+ years of experience in construction accounting, manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, or plant finance.Strong understanding of work in progress, job cost accounting, construction loans & draws, payments, and cash applications.Experience in construction, manufacturing, real estate development, or design-build environments.Strong Excel skills; comfortable with evolving data and imperfect inputs.High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and ability to manage competing deadlines.Ability to thrive in a high-growth, high-expectation environment with consistent 50–55 hour workweeks.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with NetSuite strongly preferred.Experience with construction accounting systems such as Sage, Procore, or Viewpoint is a plus.CPA not required.Work Environment
The position is based in either York, PA or Manhattan, with a typical schedule from Monday to Friday, approximately 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM. The role includes occasional extended hours during close and the flexibility of two work-from-home days per month. Enjoy a premium office environment located in a brownstone between 55th and 56th, with Summer Fridays work-from-home options.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
