The Plant Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all plant accounting functions, ensuring month-end accounting accuracy, financial forecasting, budgeting, and managing accounts payable and receivable functions. This role requires a focus on inventory accounting and customer reporting while maintaining a safe and responsible work environment by adhering to all safety rules and procedures.
ResponsibilitiesManage customer invoicing, reconciliation of customer invoices to customer reporting, and collections from customers within payment terms.Oversee Plant Accounts Payable functions, including coding and submission of invoices, reviewing any variances, correcting variances, and ensuring coding accuracy.Audit time entry and POC hours from Kronos, ensuring they are accurately applied to Oracle for payroll, and review payroll registers to verify accuracy.Ensure accurate product costing for the plants and implement procedures for correct tracking of man-hours to production batches.Prepare monthly forecasting and variance analysis from forecast to actual results.Prepare month-end close entries including accruals, reclassifications, and necessary adjustment entries.Reconcile revenue for the P&L statement and review expenses for accuracy.Prepare the annual budget for the plant.Manage inventory accounting to ensure correct inventory balances and system transactions, including customer reporting on inventory, shipments, receipts, and production.Work with plant personnel to implement procedures for data accuracy and timeliness.Oversee the audit of daily transactions to validate data accuracy.Collaborate with the Plant Manager to monitor expenses, labor, and revenue against forecasts, making recommendations for adjustments to achieve optimal financial performance.Execute operations in accordance with proper procedures and internal controls.Maximize accounting system capabilities to improve business operations, productivity, and profitability.Review the costing of finished goods and intermediate products, comparing cost analysis to contracted quotes for customers.Analyze cost swings to ensure accurate expense coding and man-hours for proper costing.Perform financial analysis on the plant's overall performance, providing the Plant Manager and executive leadership with recommendations to improve profitability.Track and submit capital projects for closure to Corporate Accounting.
Essential SkillsExpertise in month-end processes, forecasting, accounting, budgeting, accounts payable, reporting, financial reporting, and inventory accounting.Proficiency in Oracle and Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and macros.Strong reconciliation skills.
Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting is required.Five years of related work experience in financial and inventory accounting is required.CPA or MBA is preferred but not required.Experience with Microsoft applications is required.Oracle and ADP experience is preferred.
