Planning Program Manager II, Volume Planning
Amazon.com
Are you excited to drive high-visibility, fast-paced logistics programs that directly impact customer delivery speed? MX Supply Chain is looking for a Volume Planning leader to own the Sub Same Day (SSD) planning program, partnering closely with operations, transportation, and planning teams to deliver reliable same-day outcomes at scale.
At Amazon, we’re working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. Amazon is one of the most recognizable brands in the world and delivers millions of packages every year to our customers. Our Operations Planning roles are designed to accelerate leadership growth through complex, high-impact problems that sit at the intersection of demand, capacity, and execution.
In this role, you will be the planning owner for the SSD program, responsible for translating demand signals into executable volume plans, validating capacity readiness across the network, running scenarios for leadership, and proactively managing risks that could impact same-day customer promises. You will operate in a highly dynamic environment where speed, precision, and judgment matter every day.
Key job responsibilities
Own end-to-end SSD volume planning, including short-term and near-term horizons, ensuring plans are capacity-feasible and operationally executable
Translate demand forecasts into package-level SSD volume plans, incorporating network constraints, UPB logic, and operational guardrails
Partner closely with Sort Centers, Middle Mile, Last Mile, and carrier teams to ensure SSD volumes are fully aligned and consumable by execution teams
Run capacity analysis, scenario planning, and simulations to anticipate SSD risks and inform leadership decisions
Inspect demand forecasts and capacity plans critically, challenging assumptions and highlighting trade-offs between speed, capacity, and cost
Identify capacity constraints and quantify volume at risk, driving proactive mitigation strategies before execution impact
Provide high-quality, data-backed inputs to finance and leadership through written documents, models, and reviews
Define and improve planning mechanisms that support SSD within the broader planning and IBP cadence
Identify and evaluate operational and planning risks across internal and external dependencies with minimal direction
A day in the life
You review SSD performance metrics and understand where volume, capacity, or execution is drifting from plan. You work closely with planning and operations partners to adjust volumes, validate readiness, and protect same-day delivery promises. You write clear, data-driven documents that align stakeholders and inform decisions. You challenge assumptions, connect dots across the network, and step in decisively when emerging risks require fast action.
About the team
The Volume Planning team plays a critical role in connecting demand, capacity, and execution across the MX supply chain network. Our mission is to translate demand signals into clear, capacity-feasible volume plans that enable fast, reliable delivery for customers while balancing operational and network constraints.
We work end-to-end across planning horizons, partnering closely with operations, transportation, and finance teams to ensure plans are both accurate and executable. The team operates in a fast-paced, data-driven environment where ownership, strong judgment, and clear written communication are essential.
Our culture values curiosity, constructive challenge, and a bias for action. Team members are encouraged to think holistically, raise risks early, and propose practical solutions that improve customer experience and support network scalability.
