We are seeking a skilled Production Planner to manage and optimize our production processes. This role involves determining production priorities, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring a smooth flow of materials and information through our production system. The successful candidate will act as the primary contact for customers regarding production status and adjustments, and will be instrumental in maintaining our high standards of quality and efficiency.
ResponsibilitiesDetermine production priorities by studying the master production schedule and customer requirements.Act as the primary customer contact for production status, schedule changes, shipping information, and returned material.Identify raw material and component requirements from engineering and production specifications.Advise management on the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems.Coordinate cross-functional activities with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Inventory Control, Shipping/Receiving, and Contract Administration.Evaluate materials supply and demand, preparing work orders or purchase requests to support production schedules.Schedule and expedite the movement of parts to meet customer shipping dates and minimize inventory.Apply continuous improvement techniques to internal processes and systems.Analyze inventory usage, scrap, and shrinkage, recommending actions to minimize loss and increase inventory turnover.Analyze proposed changes in methods, schedules, and materials, recommending actions based on data analysis.Resolve problems concerning overshipments, shortages, engineering changes, and order cancellations.Maintain configuration control on all open orders and data files as required by division policies.Comply with federal, state, and aerospace industry regulations, advising management on necessary actions.Provide leadership within the department, acting as the prime contact on high-level projects and mentoring less experienced employees.
Essential SkillsExperience in planning within manufacturing or aerospace industry (3-5 years).Proficiency in ERP systems and Excel.Bachelor's Degree in Material or Production Planning.
Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with SAP and supply chain management.Ability to apply continuous improvement techniques and methods.
Work Environment
This is an on-site position with working hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The role involves collaborating with various departments and requires a professional approach to maintaining high standards of production quality and efficiency.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Beach, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $48.00/hr.
