Job Title: Piping Designer

Job Description

As a Piping Designer, you will be responsible for preparing technical documentation for components and systems to facilitate the RFQ and PO process, ensuring all engineering documents and project scope adhere to company standards and contractual requirements. You will oversee suppliers during the project implementation phase, conduct quality reviews, and support the erection team during construction and commissioning.

Responsibilities

Prepare technical documentation for RFQ and PO processes and evaluate bids for supplier selection.Ensure compliance of engineering documents and project scope with company standards and contractual requirements.Incorporate technical contractual requirements into specifications and ensure timely submission of design documents.Supervise suppliers throughout the project implementation phase.Organize kick-off meetings and regular meetings with suppliers, preparing minutes of meetings.Conduct quality reviews to ensure compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.Monitor suppliers throughout the project implementation phase, providing documentation oversight.Provide monitoring information as requested by project management and coordinate with the project team.Prepare and defend claims with the Discipline Engineering Manager.Cooperate closely with product managers to exchange experience and feedback.Implement and comply with HSE requirements relevant to the role.Review supplier documentation to meet high-quality engineering standards and project-specific requirements.Support the erection team during construction and commissioning, assisting with preparation of red correx documentation.Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of standard documents, such as material requisitions and standard material take-offs.Resolve engineering issues and participate in supplier qualification and selection.Provide support to the proposal team.Develop guidelines and standards for defined areas of knowledge.Develop conceptual solutions considering operational aspects.Balance good supplier relationships with persistence to achieve timely and quality document delivery.

Essential Skills

Piping design experience.Solid technical experience with good process, product, and plant knowledge.Expertise in piping materials, codes, and standards (ASME / EN).Experience with project work across different project disciplines.Ability to handle complicated technical problems and communicate with non-technical stakeholders.Ability to develop guidelines and standards.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position within large EPC projects.Good understanding of technical cost drivers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with Navisworks, Plant3D, E3D, and AutoCAD.Construction or commissioning experience is advantageous.Ability to lead technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders.Proactive collaboration across different businesses, departments, and countries.Ability to prioritize workload and ensure on-time delivery.Willingness to travel to supplier locations or site up to 10% of the time.Good knowledge of WtX, RG, PtX, Carbon Capture plant piping.

Work Environment

The role offers a hybrid schedule with 2 days working from home and 3 days in the office. The work environment is predominantly office-based, fostering collaboration and communication across teams.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Knoxville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $80.00/hr.
