**Aerotek is Hiring a Pipelayer** **Job Description** We are seeking experienced pipelayers and pipelayer helpers for a long-term opportunity in civil construction on commercial construction sites. The role involves working around sewer and water pipes, completing site preparation projects, and installing pipe for storm, water, and sewer mains, as well as other services. The pipelayer will take direction from the foreman each day. **Responsibilities** + Install pipe for storm, water, and sewer mains, Hydro, Telus, and other services. + Complete site preparation projects to support commercial construction. + Work around live utilities, cutting and beveling pipe. + Read, understand, and interpret civil plans and drawings. + Work with the foreman or lead hand to receive daily instructions. + Ensure proper installation of underground utilities to designed grades and construction standards. + Utilize certified shoring methods to provide safe excavation for entry. + Set up pipe laser and collaborate with the Grade Person to establish proper design grade. + Organize all tools and equipment required for the job at the start of the shift, maintain and organize throughout the shift, and ensure all tools are properly stored/secured at the end of the shift. + Lay pipe to design grade ensuring proper tamping of pipe. **Essential Skills** + 3+ years of pipelaying experience or skilled laborer installing pipe. + Experience working around live utilities, cutting, and beveling pipe. + Experience working on commercial/institutional/industrial projects. + Ability to read, understand, and interpret civil plans and drawings. + Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Rigging experience. + Confined space certification. + Experience with deep excavation. **Why Work Here?** Join a unionized environment (CLAC) after the probation period and enjoy a comprehensive pension plan and benefits.
