Job Title: Pipe Layer

Job Description

We are seeking skilled pipe layers to work on construction projects across various locations, including single-family detached residential lots. This role involves installing, connecting, and inspecting underground utility systems, such as stormwater, sanitary sewer, and water lines. You will collaborate closely with equipment operators, foremen, and grading crews to ensure utilities are installed safely and accurately, adhering to project specifications.

Responsibilities

Install storm, sewer, and water pipe systems according to plans, blueprints, and grade stakes.Excavate, prepare, and backfill trenches to the proper depth, width, and grade.Align and connect pipes using appropriate materials like gaskets, glue, and cement to ensure watertight joints.Set pipe to grade using lasers, levels, transits, and grade rods.Inspect pipe systems for alignment, leaks, and structural integrity.Read and interpret construction drawings, utility plans, and cut sheets.Communicate with equipment operators to ensure safe trenching and material placement.Install manholes, inlets, fittings, and related structures.Follow all trench safety, confined space, and excavation protocols.Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe work area.Assist with general labor tasks as needed to support the crew.

Essential Skills

1–3+ years of experience installing underground utilities (storm, sewer, water).Strong understanding of trenching, grading, and site development processes.Experience using pipe lasers, levels, and grade-checking tools.Ability to read and follow blueprints, plans, and grade stakes.Experience working around heavy equipment in active construction zones.

Work Environment

Work at active construction sites located in various areas, including the person, Front Royal, and the person, VA. Be prepared to rotate between locations as required. The work environment involves exposure to outdoor elements and requires adherence to safety protocols. Dress code is appropriate for construction sites.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Purcellville, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
