Physician Assistant (Per Diem PA for PPE/Games)
Atlantic Sports Health is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant for a per diem opportunity within the sports medicine service line at Morristown Medical Center. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in either pediatrics, family medicine, sports medicine, or orthopedics. This position is an outpatient sports medicine physician assistant that provides comprehensive medical care to student athletes and physically active individuals across the lifespan. Working collaboratively with supervising sports medicine physicians and other healthcare professionals, the PA evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages musculoskeletal injuries, acute and chronic conditions, and participates in performance optimization, injury prevention, and rehabilitation in a clinic or ambulatory care setting. The position will also require performing pre-participation physicals for student athletes at contracted schools. The Physician Assistant will work with a medical team to provide physical assessments and consultations on the campuses of partnered schools on athletes ages 10 and up. The Physician Assistant will be expected to collaborate with other departments: + Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary outpatient sports medicine practice, coordinating care with physicians, school nurses, athletic trainers, and ancillary providers to ensure cohesive patient management. + Participate in case discussions, clinical pathway development, and quality improvement initiatives where applicable. In New Jersey, Physician Assistants are licensed healthcare professionals authorized to perform a full spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures — including physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests (e.g., x-rays, labs), prescribing medications (including schedule II), developing patient care plans, and serving as recognized primary care providers within a collaborative relationship with a supervising physician. They may also order physical therapy and other ancillary services. The role offers flexibility with shifts available during after school hours & weekends specific to Pre-Participation coverage. Other potential roles is in the OR, clinical setting, event coverage, as well as professional development.
