Phlebotomist - Urgently Hiring
Job Title: PhlebotomistJob Description

The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position requires a professional who is skilled in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. The Phlebotomist collects and stores specimens according to established procedures and explains the venipuncture blood drawing or other specimen collection processes in a clear and courteous manner.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Clearly explain the process of venipuncture and specimen collection to patients.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperatures.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department training sessions.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsValid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.0-2 years of experience in a related field.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in pediatric and geriatric phlebotomy.Work Environment

The work environment is a fast-paced laboratory setting, operating Monday through Friday from 7am to 4pm. The Phlebotomist will be part of a team of four, drawing approximately 35 patients daily. Experience in pediatric and geriatric phlebotomy is required. Initially, the position starts as temporary, with a possibility of converting to permanent after 91 days.

This is a Contract position based out of Mount Pleasant, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00/hr.
