Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist II to join our medical team at a prominent location in Eugene. This position involves direct interaction with patients for blood draws, specimen collection, and providing exemplary customer service. You will be integral to maintaining accurate patient information and ensuring the integrity of specimens collected.
Responsibilities
Greet patients as they arrive at the lab and ensure a welcoming atmosphere.Perform blood draws and specimen collection, including urine and fecal samples, using appropriate techniques.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure accuracy in labeling.Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures clearly to patients.Handle insurance and billing processes efficiently.Maintain compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings and stay updated on best practices.Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results to patients.Ensure site preparation for blood draws and manage patient data entry accurately.Essential Skills
Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience with proficiency in straight and butterfly needles.Ability to handle difficult draws, including those involving scar tissue, rolling veins, and pediatric/geriatric patients.National Phlebotomy Certification (NHA, ASCP) is preferred but not required.Experience with 20–50+ draws per shift in high-pressure environments.Strong accuracy in specimen handling and labeling.Ability to navigate EMR systems and troubleshoot technology issues.Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.Experience with scanners, tablets, computers, EMRs, and LIS.Patient-first mindset with the ability to ease patient anxiety and explain procedures clearly.Adaptability and ability to work well in diverse teams.Proven reliability and strong attendance record.Flexibility to move between sites and adapt to scheduling needs.Work Environment
The work schedule is M - F 7AM - 4PM, with contract duration initially set for 3 months and potential extensions up to 6-9 months based on performance and business needs. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.24/hr.
