Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in executing various duties, troubleshooting issues, providing training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
+ Record maintenance data and conduct decontamination procedures.
+ Update patient information accurately.
+ Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
+ Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture or other specimen collection processes.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
+ Comprehend all physicians' orders thoroughly.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department trainings.
+ Respond to telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed.
Essential Skills
+ Valid Phlebotomy certification for applicable state.
+ Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ 2-4 years of experience in a relevant field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of different gauges and phlebotomy techniques.
+ Ability to enter data correctly in different EMRs.
+ Excellent customer service skills due to high patient volume.
+ Experience in specimen collection and venipuncture.
Work Environment
The work environment is fast-paced, akin to an emergency room setting, with over 100 patients daily. The facility is located at 400 Patroon Creek Boulevard, Albany. The working hours are from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with alternating Saturdays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Watertown, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
