Phlebotomist II
Phlebotomist Summary The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing high‑quality specimen collection, supporting daily workflow, troubleshooting issues, assisting with training, and ensuring all procedures are executed efficiently and accurately. Position Responsibilities + Perform venipunctures, capillary punctures, and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal) while providing clear and courteous explanations to patients. + Collect, label, and store specimens according to established protocols and test requirements. + Match laboratory requisition forms or electronic orders with specimen tubes to ensure 100% accuracy. + Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and butterfly needles. + Centrifuge, split, freeze, and prepare specimens according to test specifications. + Package specimens safely and appropriately for transport while maintaining specimen integrity. + Update patient information and maintain accurate documentation. + Record maintenance logs and perform required decontamination of work areas. + Understand all physician orders and ensure proper test collection. + Answer phone calls and relay laboratory results when appropriate. + Maintain compliance with OSHA, DEP, and all safety and regulatory guidelines. + Attend required annual departmental training sessions. Minimum Qualifications + Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on venipuncture experience in a fast‑paced hospital or laboratory setting. + High School Diploma or GED. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer systems. Experience Level Intermediate Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Sugar Land, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
