Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing a variety of duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and recommend workflow improvements.
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.Centrifuge and store specimens according to established procedures.Update and maintain patient information meticulously.Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.Understand and execute physicians' orders accurately.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match scripts with 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper storage and temperature maintenance.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department training sessions.Handle telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to provide information.Essential Skills
Phlebotomy experience with a minimum of 2 years.Proficiency in hard sticks, patient care, blood draw, venipuncture, and specimen collection.Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.Experience in pediatric and geriatric care.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.High School Diploma or GED.Experience sticking geriatrics.Work Environment

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Asheville, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
