Phlebotomist I
Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and offer workflow recommendations. This position involves handling specimens, ensuring proper labeling, and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes courteously.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Understand and execute physicians' orders correctly.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples at required temperatures and maintain integrity.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Respond to telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.Essential Skills
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required.Minimum of 6 months experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.Additional Skills & Qualifications
1+ year of medical lab phlebotomy experience.Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Pensacola, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
