Phlebotomist
Job Title: PhlebotomistJob Description The Phlebotomist will be responsible for identifying the best method for retrieving specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing while maintaining top standards of safety protocol. Responsibilities + Verify clinical lab test orders and address discrepancies with appropriate clinical staff. + Confirm patient information using two patient identifiers. + Determine the best method for obtaining a blood sample based on the specific patient. + Obtain blood specimens through venipunctures and fingersticks. + Dispose of contaminated sharps in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies. + Track collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintain daily tallies of collections performed. + Maintain quality results by following department procedures and complying with legal regulations. + Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment. Essential Skills + Phlebotomy + Phlebotomy certification + Proficiency in blood draw techniques including butterfly method + 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience Additional Skills & Qualifications + Phlebotomy Certification Work Environment This position is located in Poughkeepsie and operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
