Phlebotomist Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, detail‑oriented Phlebotomist to join our laboratory team! This role is responsible for collecting, processing, and preparing patient specimens according to established clinical and safety procedures. The ideal candidate is skilled in venipuncture, works confidently in a fast‑paced environment, and provides patients with a clear, professional, and courteous experience.
Key Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles
+ Explain venipuncture and specimen‑collection procedures to patients in a clear and courteous manner
+ Collect, label, and store specimens according to established protocols
+ Centrifuge, split, freeze, and prepare specimens based on test orders
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes with complete accuracy
+ Verify test requisitions and computer labels against provider scripts for 100% correctness
+ Package specimens for transport while following specific temperature and handling requirements
+ Maintain specimen integrity by using proper containers, labeling, and protocol‑based procedures
+ Record maintenance data, perform equipment decontamination, and update patient information
+ Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results when appropriate
+ Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP safety regulations
+ Attend all required annual department trainings
Minimum Qualifications
+ Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipuncture in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting
+ High School Diploma or GED (verification required)
+ 2+ years of work experience preferred
Additional Requirements
+ Ability to maintain professionalism and accuracy in a high‑volume environment
+ Strong attention to detail and adherence to clinical protocols
+ Excellent communication and patient‑service skills
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Park, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.80/hr.
