Job Title: PhlebotomistJob Description

The Phlebotomist is responsible for obtaining blood specimens and collecting nonblood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. The role involves performing screening tests, reporting results, processing specimens for laboratory testing, and preparing specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories.

ResponsibilitiesObtain blood specimens through venipuncture.Collect nonblood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs.Perform and report screening tests.Process specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing.Prepare specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories.Essential SkillsExperience in phlebotomy, blood draw, and venipuncture.Phlebotomy certification preferred, but not required.Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience or clinical training involving practical phlebotomy on patients.Clinical rotations or experience in a hospital setting for newly certified individuals.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to handle an average of 50 blood draws during day shifts.Proficiency in handling 35 blood draws during evening shifts.Capability to manage 25-30 blood draws in the first 4 hours of night shifts.Work Environment

The position is based in a busy hospital lab setting with a schedule from 12 PM to 8:30 PM during evenings and rotating weekends, providing one consistent weekday off each week. The phlebotomist may be called to codes, handle arterial blood gases (ABGs), and rapid response scenarios. The hospital primarily serves adult patients with very few pediatric cases, and it houses the only burn unit in the area.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $20.00/hr.
