Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description
The main function of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This role involves blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.
Responsibilities
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collection clearly and courteously.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
+ Understand and follow all physicians' orders.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
+ Ensure accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
+ Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
+ Comply with procedures to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport.
+ Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department training sessions.
+ Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.
Essential Skills
+ 1-2 years of recent Phlebotomy experience
+ Proficiency in phlebotomy, blood draws, and venipuncture
+ Strong customer service skills
+ Ability to handle 25+ patient draws per day
+ Experience with patients of all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric
+ High School Diploma or GED
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to move and stand for extended periods
+ Comfortable with standing most of the day
Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a contract-to-hire arrangement.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Macon, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $18.75/hr.
