Job Title: PhlebotomistJob Description

The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation. Their ability to put patients at ease and obtain sufficient samples with minimal discomfort to patients across a wide demographic is critical to our commitment to high-quality care.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, and prepare them for testing.Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.Decontaminate and update patient information as necessary.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes.Demonstrate proficiency with straight and butterfly needles.Comprehend and follow all physicians' orders accurately.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Handle telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.Essential SkillsProficiency in phlebotomy and blood draws.Experience with straight needles and pediatric blood draws.2-3 years of experience in drawing blood.Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with infant blood draws is a plus.Ability to process and handle specimens accurately.Work Environment

This position is based in Middletown, NY, with shifts on Monday from 9am-5pm, Tuesday from 10am-7pm, Wednesday from 9am-5pm, Thursday from 9:30am-7pm, and Saturday from 8:30am-4:30pm. It offers a dynamic work setting for those who enjoy a change of scenery and in-state travel. The role does not require work during holidays or vacations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
