Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team in a busy hospital lab setting. The role involves obtaining blood specimens and collecting non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. You will perform screening tests, report results, process specimens for laboratory testing, and prepare specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories. Responsibilities + Obtain blood specimens through phlebotomy techniques. + Collect non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs. + Perform screening tests and accurately report results. + Process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing. + Prepare specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories. Essential Skills + Phlebotomy skills including blood draw and venipuncture. + Phlebotomy certification preferred but not required. + Minimum of 6 months experience in phlebotomy or clinical training with phlebotomy practice on patients. + If newly certified, previous clinical rotations or experience in a hospital setting is necessary. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Phlebotomy certification is an advantage. + Ability to handle an average of 50 sticks during day shifts, 35 during evening shifts, and 25-30 during night shifts in the first four hours. Work Environment The work environment is a busy hospital lab setting. The position offers a long-term opportunity with a growing hospital. Additionally, there is a corporate development structure in place that allows phlebotomists to develop and advance within the career path. The schedule is consistent, with work hours from 4am-12:30pm, Monday to Friday and every other weekend. Employees receive the same day off during the week when they work weekends. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
