Pharmacy Technician Specialist
Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Specialist Job Description Under the guidance of a staff pharmacist and the pharmacy leadership team, the Pharmacy Technician Specialist will perform a variety of advanced technical and clerical support tasks crucial to the pharmacy department's operations. These tasks include preparing and distributing unit dose medications, compounded sterile and non-sterile products, outpatient prescriptions, and stock orders, as well as maintaining pharmacy-specific technologies. You will also train staff and engage in departmental projects, ensuring compliance with the North Carolina Board of Registration in Pharmacy and other relevant regulations. Responsibilities + Train new or existing staff members and provide direction and guidance to ensure adherence to policies and professional conduct. + Oversee drug distribution activities, troubleshooting, and maintaining efficiency in workflow processes. + Perform medication deliveries, distribute medications to patient care areas, and manage inventory using barcode scanning. + Prepare compounded sterile products, distribute controlled substances, and maintain code cart inventory as per policies. + Utilize and troubleshoot area-specific technologies such as robotics, automation, and information systems. + Follow institutional and departmental policies, ensuring accountability and professional behavior. + Assist in maintaining departmental statistics, data metrics, and workload productivity reports. Essential Skills + Pharmacy technician certification and registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy. + Board Certified Pharmacy Technician from a nationally approved certification board. + Proficiency in aseptic technique and compounding. + Ability to read, interpret, and follow complex verbal and written instructions accurately. + Strong communication skills and knowledge of pharmacy policies and procedures. + Capability to perform mathematical calculations for pharmaceutical preparations. + Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent. + Previous hospital-related experience or formal pharmacy technician training is preferred. + Ability to maintain professional relationships with healthcare professionals. + Knowledge of basic medical terminology, abbreviations, and computer operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Durham, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
