Job Title: Pharmacy TechnicianJob Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to ensure the safe preparation and dispensing of intravenous hazardous and non-hazardous medications. This role involves adhering to regulatory requirements and maintaining best practices in medication handling and compounding.

ResponsibilitiesEnsure the safe preparation and dispensing of intravenous hazardous and non-hazardous medications.Practice correct usage of PPE and comply with regulatory requirements for handling hazardous drugs.Embrace and evaluate CSTDs in the preparation of hazardous medications, while familiarizing with regulatory standards.Undergo comprehensive training in the storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous drugs, ensuring effectiveness through testing specific techniques.Document training and reassess competency at least every 12 months.Train on hazardous drug exposure and spill control, including treatment of exposed individuals and disposal of hazardous medications.Aid in CADD pump preparation upon demonstrating competency.Support investigational drug management, including inventory, information, record keeping, and preparation for dispensing.Minimize medication waste by monitoring compliance with policies and procedures.Carry out daily purchasing activities and assist with vendor and contract management.Promote inventory control strategies to manage high-cost items and reduce overall stock supplies.Employ special precautions for hazardous substances during product receipt and ensure compliance with shipping and handling requirements.Contribute to drug shortage management by investigating procurement strategies.Leverage information technology resources for quality and efficiency improvement.Evaluate equipment and storage facilities based on standard operating protocols for medication storage, compounding, and delivery.Essential SkillsExperience with sterile compounding.Registered as a pharmacy technician in Alabama (certification not required).Understanding and proper application of aseptic techniques as outlined in USP and USP .Experience in compounding and dispensing hazardous medications preferred.Additional Skills & QualificationsEducation and experience as a Pharmacy Technician at the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.Continuing education of 3 hours annually, including one live credit hour.CE credit from Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ABOP) or ACPE-T approved programs.Knowledge gained through various training methods including on-the-job and formalized study.Work Environment

This role involves floating to different clinics around Jefferson County to perform sterile compounding duties, emphasizing the niche field of sterile compounding and mixing IV drugs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mountain Brk, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
