SUMMARYWeis Markets provides many career opportunities at all levels and is known for internal promotions and career pathing from all positions. Pharmacy Graduate Interns are recent pharmacy school graduates who are working toward becoming licensed pharmacists. They function in a transitional role under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and support both clinical and operational pharmacy functions. Graduate Interns are expected to provide excellent customer service, assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications, and develop their professional and clinical skills to prepare for licensure and future employment as a Weis Markets pharmacist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping resolve issues in a professional manner, and supporting daily pharmacy operations. Perform technician-level tasks including, but not limited to, data entry, prescription processing, and inventory management. Participate in patient counseling activities under direct pharmacist supervision. Support clinical services such as immunizations, Medication Therapy Management (MTM), medication synchronization, and patient outreach for services and wellness initiatives, where permitted by law and under direct pharmacist supervision. Support initiatives that promote medication adherence, synchronization, text alerts, and customer wellness. Process third-party claims and help resolve insurance-related issues. Enter and update patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system accurately. Interact with physicians and utilize reference material to gain information on customers and prescriptions and to resolve any issues that arise. Perform initial drug utilization reviews and identify potential drug interactions or contraindications, escalating concerns to the supervising pharmacist. Assist in managing pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and removing expired medications. Participate in meetings, training sessions, and development opportunities as they arise in the company. Shadow and learn management tasks and team leadership responsibilities under the guidance of the Pharmacy Manager. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment. Progress through the New Pharmacist Training checklist and complete checklist prior to licensure. Travel to assigned store locations and attend scheduled events (e.g., flu clinics, DM ride-along). Responsible for submitting all mileage and expenses following all company policies and procedures. Actively participate in feedback and evaluation sessions and use results to build professional growth plans. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and corporate policies. Perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties as necessary or assigned. Qualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
Education and/or Experience
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited college or university. Eligibility to work as a graduate intern as defined by the state Board of Pharmacy.
Must have and maintain an active Pharmacy Intern License in good standing with the state Board of Pharmacy (where applicable).
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
