NaphCare is hiring a Pharmacy Audit Technician. This position will be located at our Corporate Office in Birmingham, AL.
The Pharmacy Audit Technician is a corporate-based role responsible for supporting controlled substance audits, inventory reconciliation, and regulatory compliance across multiple healthcare facilities. This position focuses on audit, documentation, and regulatory support, rather than dispensing or direct patient care.
The role serves as a centralized resource to promote consistent interpretation of controlled substance requirements, support regulatory inspections, and strengthen inventory accountability across sites.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
Controlled Substance Auditing & Inventory Support
Perform regular audits of controlled substance inventory and documentation across assigned facilitiesReview and reconcile medication inventory records and administration documentationValidate quantities based on packaging, repackaging, and unit-of-use practicesIdentify discrepancies, trends, or risks and escalate appropriatelyRegulatory & Compliance Support
Assist facilities during DEA inspections and follow-up inquiriesSupport preparation for Board of Pharmacy surveys and regulatory reviewsHelp ensure required documentation is available, complete, and retained appropriatelyMaintain working knowledge of federal and state controlled substance regulationsStandardization & Process Support
Support consistent audit and documentation practices across all facilitiesProvide guidance to site leadership on audit readiness expectationsAssist with development of tools, checklists, and reference materials that support complianceParticipate in continuous improvement efforts related to controlled substance accountabilityAudit Readiness & Validation
Participate in or support mock audits and readiness reviewsAssist with follow-up actions identified during audits or inspectionsHelp reinforce separation of stock inventory accountability from patient-specific recordsDocumentation & Reporting
Maintain organized audit files and reconciliation documentationSupport centralized document management and retention practicesPrepare summaries or reports for leadership as needed QualificationsRequired
Experience as a pharmacy technician or in pharmacy compliance, inventory management, auditing, or regulatory supportStrong attention to detail and documentation accuracyAbility to analyze inventory and administration recordsAbility to work independently in a multi-site, corporate environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred
