Pharmacy Assistant
Job Title: Pharmacy Assistant Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Assistant to support billing and accounts receivable operations for Long-Term Care (LTC) pharmacy services. This role involves managing daily census reports, handling pharmacy and medical insurance claims, and providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities + Support billing and accounts receivable (AR) operations for LTC pharmacy services. + Accurately manage and maintain daily census reports. + Submit and follow up on pharmacy and medical insurance claims, including commercial pharmacy claims, Medicare Part B, and Medicaid (Hospice). + Communicate with insurance providers to verify benefits and resolve claim issues. + Work with major payers such as Optum and Caremark. + Answer inbound customer service calls and address billing inquiries. + Take patient or facility payments over the phone. + Prepare and process daily deposits. + Utilize pharmacy billing systems; experience with Frameworks is preferred, but training will be provided. + Draft and respond to professional email communications. + Perform light administrative and reporting tasks using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Essential Skills + Experience in insurance, clerical tasks, claims, medical assisting, and labeling. + Knowledge of pharmacy technician certification and customer service. + Billing customer service experience. + 1–3 years of experience in a pharmacy, medical billing, or healthcare administrative role. + Strong customer service skills. + High attention to detail, especially with daily census tracking. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). + Comfortable working with insurance claims and payer follow-ups. + Ability to learn new pharmacy billing systems. + Strong verbal and written communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Long-Term Care (LTC) pharmacy experience preferred. + Exposure to hospice billing and Medicare Part B billing. + Prior experience with pharmacy payers such as Optum and Caremark. Work Environment The team consists of 4 full-time employees, 2 of whom work fully remote while the other 2, including a supervisor and a team member with over 6 months of experience, work onsite. Additionally, there is 1 part-time employee handling daily deposits. The role is fully in-person, located in a designated office space upstairs, and involves significant phone interaction. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
