POSITION SUMMARY:
The Safety Supervisor is responsible for leading the Oklahoma / East Texas region’s personal safety team and/or assisting with development and implementation of safety programs and processes. The Safety Supervisor supports the area’s crude gathering, natural gas/natural gas liquids gathering, compression, PSM gas plants, and construction projects: ensuring safe, reliable and compliant operations. This position reports directly to the region Safety Manager.
This position supports the NG NGL Services HES&S strategy; ensures regulatory compliance and safety performance; ensures emergency response preparation; develops and maintains relationships with federal/state/local agencies; leads up to five area Personal Safety Professionals.
The successful candidate will be a proven leader with demonstrated strength in leadership, communication, change leadership, teamwork, ethics and integrity, business knowledge, and inclusion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ensures compliance with safety regulations, industry practices, and MPC initiatives by developing and supervising the implementation of safety policies and procedures, implementing corporate safety initiatives, and evaluating compliance with safety policies and procedures.
· Maintains a thorough working knowledge of component processes, engineering controls, administrative controls, injury & illness controls, and new safety developments that will impact the organization.
· Supports the development and advancement of construction and major projects.
· Drives strategic improvement of continual improvement of internal processes and programs by using strong interpersonal skills to influence individuals and teams.
· Demonstrates effective leadership and engagement through field presence with employees. Fosters a culture of trust with employees, internal customers, and contractors through collaboration and alignment of goals, programs, and initiatives.
· Maintains safety performance while operating in a cost-effective environment.
· Actively engage in the local area and community (LEPC, mutual aid, etc.) to promote MPLX and build relationships in the community.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· High School diploma or GED required, bachelor’s in occupational safety preferred
· 5 years of relevant experience
· CSP preferred
· Travel expectations 35%
Valid Driver's License Required
SKILLS:
· Must possess knowledge of safety metrics, root cause analysis, excavation safety, confined space entry, fall protection requirements, energy isolation, hot work, hazard communication, mobile equipment, and mobile crane safety.
· Must have the ability to prepare safety related reports and other types of documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
· Ability to incorporate different training methods based on the audience and capability to speak in front of large groups.
· Must be able to properly analyze process safety related information and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
· Must be proficient in conducting onsite assessments and evaluations as they relate to safety and process safety management items.
· Must be able to perform and track all site safety required training courses.
· Must have excellent time and project management skills and ability to work well with minimal supervision.
· Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Job will require public speaking engagements and significant report writing.
· Computer Skills: Must have exceptional computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Outlook. A working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and SharePoint systems is also required. Familiarity with safety related software management systems a plus.
