Position description UCLA Extension is considered one of the top programs of its kind, offering to more than 35,000 students per year approximately 4,500 classes and non-degree certificate programs to meet the professional development, continuing education, and personal enrichment needs of the full spectrum of nontraditional students as well as companies and organizations throughout and beyond the Los Angeles region. Course / Program Description The Personal Financial Planning program is a CFP Board registered program which focuses on two goals: + Providing the student with the knowledge and tools required to prepare a comprehensive financial plan for a client. + Provide the student with skills and knowledge necessary to pass the CFP Board Exam. Job Description We are looking for instructors who can primarily teach in-person in our Westwood or Downtown locations. A CFP designation is not required but still preferred for Estate Planning if you are a practicing Attorney or for Insurance if you are working in the field. For most of the other courses a CFP designation will be a requirement. The courses offered include: + Survey of Personal Financial Planning + Financial Analysis in Personal Financial Planning + Retirement Plans and other employee benefits + Investments in Personal Financial Planning + Income Taxation in Personal Financial Planning + Estate Planning + Insurance in Personal Financial Planning + Ethics in Personal Financial Planning + The Personal Financial Planning Capstone You will work from an existing syllabus but will have the opportunity to create your own content based on that description and learning objectives. Including activities to engage the students, work on real world examples, cases-based exercises and engaging the student’s critical thinking skills are a must. A case study runs through-out the programs and each class utilizes at least this one case as part of the curriculum. The instructor is responsible for grading, verifying the textbook being used, updating materials and the syllabus as needed. Most classes are one quarter in length and cover 4 academic units. The equivalent of 3 hours of classroom instruction a week for 11 weeks, in addition to readings, exercise and case study assignments. Instructor Duties: The instructor will be responsible for developing the course content including videos and assignments as applicable. Identifying a textbook or course materials and establishing a grading standard. The instructor will present course content to students in written material, lectures or discussions, video recordings and through feedback on assignments.
