Performance Instructor Day

Your Impact

The RDC Performance Instructor (PI) is a DC Operations Team Member position designed to be the primary department trainer. This includes new hire training, best methods/job function training, equipment training, and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Operations Manager and department Supervisor. When not performing as a PI, this individual performs normal on-standard functions or participates in assigned special projects under the direction of DC leadership. When performing normal on-standard functions, this role is eligible for the Performance Team Member Bonus. The Performance Instructor must be able to teach others and maintain a culture of safety among associates to achieve a safe working environment. In addition, the Performance Instructor may be leveraged as a development role for future advancement to Supervisor.

What You Will Do

Acts as industrial powered equipment trainer

Maintains excellent safety performance which is a requirement for retaining Performance Instructor status

Works/trains in any established area as assigned and rotates throughout various departments

Provides leadership/coaching to associates under the direction of a Supervisor or other salaried leader

Sets the example of best practices and methods for tasks in the department

Promotes teamwork, collaboration, and open communication among associates

Maintains high performance when working on-standard in established areas

Helps new hires and those who change departments learn skills that will improve their upward mobility

Communicates effectively with other associates regarding business objectives or current issues

Identifies and assists with implementing process improvements or new training processes launched from corporate

Additional Responsibilities

Conducts shift briefing, including safety topics, upcoming events and demand for the day

Performs Operations tasks (receiving, picking product and loading) to assist in accomplishing daily workload

Attends and participates in required training programs

Learns and demonstrates skill on new equipment; becomes certified on new equipment

Learns new skills and becomes certified in multiple areas in order to rotate within the facility


Minimum Qualifications

Experience training others

Experience operating power equipment (e.g., forklift, reach truck, yard truck)


Preferred Skills/Education

High school diploma or GED General Studies

Leadership experience with or without direct report responsibility

Experience in distribution center operations or previous warehouse experience

Experience troubleshooting warehouse management system issues

Experience performing detail-oriented tasks in a fast-paced working environment

Experience using spatial reasoning to position product effectively

Certified as industrial powered equipment trainer
