What We Want
Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director of Performance Dietitian, Football the Performance Dietitian supports daily performance nutrition operations for assigned Texas A&M Athletics programs (Football). The role delivers comprehensive, evidence-based nutrition services including individualized counseling, team education, fueling and recovery strategies, and clinical nutrition support to optimize student-athlete health and performance. This position collaborates closely with coaches, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and other sport performance staff as part of an interdisciplinary care team. In alignment with the mission of Texas A&M Athletics, the Performance Nutritionist contributes to the holistic development, well-being, and competitive success of student-athletes through integrated performance support.

Responsibilities
Nutrition Education/Counseling and Operations
+ Individualized nutrition counseling (training, recovery, illness, weight mgmt, travel)
+ Team talks, cooking demos, grocery tours
+ Attending practices/games/meals for fueling support
+ Fueling station management (scheduling, ordering, inventory)
+ Menu development and training table collaboration
+ Education on food prep & performance fueling
+ Collaboration across multidisciplinary departments, including but not limited to: strength and conditioning, sports medicine, sports psychology, football operations
+ Building relationships with local vendors/businesses
+ Special events and curriculum development
Assessment and Clinical
+ Dietary analysis and energy balance assessment
+ DXA & body composition
+ Hydration testing, lab testing and individualized supplement protocols
+ Nutrition related medical care coordination
+ Special diets/allergies
+ Injury/illness nutrition support

Supervision

Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree in dietetics, exercise physiology, kinesiology, sports nutrition, or related area
+ One year of experience in or a combination of:
+ Working as a sports dietitian in collegiate athletics or a comparable setting, directly supporting elite athletes.
+ Actively practicing as a Dietitian with the ability to demonstrate knowledge and application of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT).
+ Multiple years working directly with a Division I football program, one year can be student/GA experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
+ Registered Dietitian. Ability to obtain Texas state license.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's Degree dietetics, exercise physiology, kinesiology, sports nutrition, or related area
+ Three or more years of experience in:
+ Knowledge in sports nutrition counseling.
+ Working as a sports dietitian in collegiate athletics or a comparable setting, directly supporting elite athletes.
+ Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) or actively working toward credential.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Exhibit competence in helping manage eating disorders and disordered eating cases.
+ Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation and nutrition counseling abilities.
+ Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, time management, prioritization skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
+ Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills and an innovative approach.
+ Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
+ Takes initiative and completes tasks with minimal supervision.
+ Demonstrates punctuality, enthusiasm, and strong self-motivation.
+ Maintain dietetic registration and fulfill continuing education requirements.
+ Knowledge of and compliant with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
