It ensures patients receive safe and high-quality care by engaging with staff and leaders to accomplish systematic quality improvement, patient safety goals, and drive strategic priorities. The Specialist supports, coordinates, and leads initiatives to promote safety, eliminate preventable harm, and continuously evaluate and improve the quality of care delivered utilizing evidence-based improvement science methodology that aligns with pediatric national standards and strategies to prevent harm. **Responsibilities** + Investigates and evaluates events for risk potential, loss minimization, and proper documentation in addition to using risk factors data to develop evidence-based Patient Safety interventions and process improvement strategies. + Provides consultation and support to teams or departments related to performance improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance and patient safety events. + Provides facilitation and support to teams and departments related to patient safety events. + Utilizes evidence-based Quality Improvement methodology and systems thinking to coach and lead teams to implement, evaluate, and improve the quality of care. Provides education offerings on safety principals, quality improvement, error prevention tools, and the Safety Coach Program. Participates in pediatric safety collaboratives and networks including the Child Health Patient Safety Organization (PSO) and Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS). + Fosters a learning and psychologically safe environment in facilitating debriefs (both proactively and post-safety event - including RCA, ACA, & CCA) to learn and identify processes that are going well, and improvement opportunities related to policies, processes, knowledge, or systems. + BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
