**Job Overview**
**Fairview Health Services is hiring a pediatric echocardiographer technician to join our team at our** **M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital** **location in Minneapolis, MN.**
The Pediatric Echocardiographer is an entry level position and works under the supervision of the Peds Heart Center Medical Director, Lead Tech and Echo Educator. They utilize echocardiography, a non-invasive imaging technique, to create detailed images of the heart's anatomy and blood flow. These images aid physicians in diagnosing congenital heart defects, valvular abnormalities and other cardiac conditions in pediatric patients and young adults. This entry level role focuses on developing pediatric echocardiography competencies while performing routine studies under supervision, with progressive independence as skills and credentials are obtained.
Schedule: This position will work 1.0 FTE, 80 hours every two weeks, 8 hour long day shifts with a weekend rotation as needed.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Perform routine and emergent echocardiograms under supervision, with increasing independence over time.
+ Review patient's medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, including patient history, lab results, and physician orders.
+ Prepare patients for the procedure and explain the process to them.
+ Accurately document preliminary echocardiogram reports.
+ Collaborate with the pediatric cardiologists and other technicians to learn and interpret results.
+ Adherent to safety and infection control standards.
+ Attend echo lab meetings and participate in echo-related conferences to ensure continuing education and professional growth.
+ Assist with more complex studies as skills and competence are demonstrated.
+ Actively works towards pediatric echocardiography registry requirements.
+ Adhere to safety and infection control standards.
+ Provide compassionate patient care
**Qualifications**
+ Associate of Applied Science in Non-Invasive Imaging or an associate degree in related clinical
+ Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) BLS within 90 Days
+ Regist Diag Card Sonographer Pediatric within 2 Yrs Required
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Bachelor of Science in Non-Invasive Imaging Preferred
+ Regist Diag Card Sonographer Adult Preferred
+ 1 year of Echocardiography experience Preferred1 year of Pediatric Echocardiography experience Preferred
