PE-Duty Gear - Manufacturing Engineer Intern
TOGETHER, WE SAVE LIVES OVERVIEW Internships at The Safariland Group offer distinctive, hands-on experience in a design and manufacturing setting. As a Manufacturing Engineer intern, you will work alongside Assembly, Accessories, and Sub- Assembly personnel, supporting them and the Safariland business group in daily operations. RESPONSIBITLITIES • Work with other Manufacturing Engineers to achieve optimal level of efficiency, delivery and quality standards. • Participate in cost reduction initiative for Safariland Duty Gear manufacturing. • Participate in continuous improvement and Change Control Projects. • Support design for manufacturing initiatives. • Documentation, analysis, and assessment of project status, reviews, and testing results. • Participate in Root Cause analysis and counter measure implementation. • Time Studies for new and existing product. • Participate in changing and maintain Lean culture. • Computer-aided design and drafting using Solid Works and/or Draft Site (AutoCad). • Participate in researching, determining ROI, recommend and implementing automation processes/ equipment within the manufacturing facility. QUALIFICATIONS • Must be a student actively pursuing a major in Engineering, Materials, and/or Physics. • Students with a GPA of 3.2 or higher • Experience in 3D drawing, ideally in Solidworks. • Related Business, Operations or Engineering experience a plus. • Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook • Must possess excellent work ethic and ability to self-motivate. • Must be able to multi-task as well as prioritize various tasks at hand. • General understanding of Lean. • Understand the importance of being a team player. • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
