Overview:
The Tax Accountant II plays a critical role in delivering business value by ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll tax remittances and filings. This position combines technical expertise, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to support payroll tax operations and compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesProfessional ExpertiseProvide expert recommendations based on payroll tax knowledge and industry trends.Identify, troubleshoot, and implement effective solutions to payroll tax process issues.Recommend and apply policy adjustments to enhance payroll tax processes.Distinguish between key and non-key controls, ensuring accountability and alignment with compliance standards.Prioritization and PlanningLead the implementation of payroll tax process improvements.Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize high-impact tax work.Monitor and analyze data to identify trends and inform decision-making.Business Acumen & Problem SolvingConsult on and propose updates to processes in response to business or legislative changes.Develop and enhance documentation and policies to reflect current practices.Influence stakeholders to maintain compliance and adopt best practices.Collaboration & CommunicationProvide guidance on payroll tax matters with support from senior team members.Recommend best practices for payroll tax operations.Assist in delivering tax-related learning opportunities for non-tax partners.Daily ResponsibilitiesBalance daily payments and reconcile stock transactions.Manage inbox and respond to inquiries and casework.Conduct audits and analyze large datasets.Update records with tax authorities as needed.Skills & ToolsCore Tools: SAP, ADP Payroll, SuccessFactorsTechnical Skills: Reconciliation, Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP), Microsoft Office SuiteTax Software: Familiarity with tax compliance platforms and database toolsQualificationsRequired:Minimum 2 years of payroll tax experience, including payment, reconciliation, and filing.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (2+ years).Customer service experience (2+ years).Experience with multi-state and provincial tax reporting and filing.Knowledge of federal, state, local, and provincial labor laws.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Preferred:Background or degree in Accounting.Key ProjectsYear-end payroll processing.Handling large datasets in Excel for reconciliation and reporting.Experience Level:Intermediate
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
