Payroll Specialist
Description Position Summary The Payroll Specialist / HR Administrator is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing and supporting core HR administrative functions. This role ensures accurate, compliant payroll across multiple states, manages payroll tax filings and garnishments, and provides day-to-day HR operational support for employees and leadership. Key Responsibilities Payroll & Compliance + Process bi-weekly/weekly payroll accurately and timely for hourly and salaried employees + Administer multi-state payroll, including proper tax setup, withholding, and compliance + Manage state and local payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and coordination with third-party providers + Handle wage garnishments, levies, child support orders, and related reporting + Maintain payroll records, audits, and reconciliations; resolve discrepancies proactively + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws HR Administration + Support new hire onboarding, terminations, and employee data changes in HRIS/payroll systems + Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and documentation + Assist with benefits administration (enrollments, changes, deductions, reconciliations) + Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, benefits, and policies + Support HR reporting, audits, and compliance requirements + Assist with updating HR policies, procedures, and internal documentation Cross-Functional Support + Partner with HR, Accounting, and Management to ensure accurate payroll and employee data + Support year-end activities including W-2 processing and reconciliations + Assist with ad hoc HR and payroll projects as needed Requirements Preferred Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field + CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC certification + Experience supporting HR administration in a growing or multi-entity environment + 3–5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll + Hands-on experience with payroll tax compliance and garnishments Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
