Job Description
The primary role of the Payroll Accountant is to process and post monthly payroll for approximately 50 companies, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable regulations. Proficiency in 10-key data entry with a high level of speed and accuracy, particularly in payroll processing environments, is crucial.
Responsibilities
Process and post monthly payroll for approximately 50 companies.Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulations.Perform daily employer contribution postings and track accounts receivable.Set up new employer accounts and update member records to determine benefit eligibility.Maintain and process accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P) using QuickBooks.Prepare and analyze general ledger transactions to ensure financial accuracy.Generate financial reports and assist with monthly and year-end close processes.Support preparation for the annual audit, including documentation and reconciliations.Determine member benefit eligibility based on updated records and contribution data.Essential Skills
Proficiency in payroll processing and payroll accounting.Experience in 10-key data entry.Knowledge in Excel, including formatting, copying, pasting, and text manipulation in columns.Experience with general ledger, reconciliation, month-end processes, and journal entries.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred.2+ years of relevant work experience in payroll processing or payroll accounting.Experience in employee benefits, union, and/or non-profit environments preferred.Work Environment
The position requires working five days in the office, starting at either 7 am or 8 am, and working 8.5 hours with a 30-minute lunch break. The start time is flexible based on personal preference but must be consistent daily. The payroll accountant will be part of a team with three other staff accountants and an eligibility specialist, managed by the Accounting Manager. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $33.65/hr.
