As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll while supporting various human resource functions, including Payroll, Recruiting, HRIS, and Benefits Administration.
ResponsibilitiesProcess payroll using ADP and ensure accurate and timely payment of wages, bonuses, final checks, and time off.Maintain compliance with Oregon tax and labor regulations.Reconcile each payroll and provide reports to the accounting department.Stay current with payroll and tax changes affecting employees and the business.Correct payroll discrepancies timely, by the next payroll cycle.Assist with recruiting by posting job openings, scheduling interviews, preparing offer letters, ordering criminal background checks, and pre-employment drug screens.Assist with benefits administration, ensure benefits enrollments are accurate, inform COBRA provider of newly terminated employees, and reconcile monthly benefit bills.Communicate company benefits to new hires during orientation and assist employees with benefit questions.Maintain accurate employment data in the HRIS system, including entering new hires and updating employment information.Conduct new employee orientation to foster a positive culture.Create reports for other departments, including PTO balances, ERP hours, overtime, and safety compliance.Support internal and external audits by gathering necessary documentation.Assist with the company employee assessment program and schedule 90-day new employee reviews.Create employee and payroll files and manage I-9 storage.Ensure end-of-year distribution of W-2s and 1095s.Reconcile the 401k plan on a monthly basis.Assist with compiling information and writing the monthly company newsletter.Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential SkillsProficiency in payroll processing, especially using ADP.Experience with Excel, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.General HR experience, including onboarding, benefits administration, and recruiting.Knowledge of Oregon Wage and Hour regulations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong attention to detail.
Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate's degree in Business, Human Resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Two or more years of experience processing payroll with ADP or a similar payroll system.Strong MS Office skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.One or more years of experience in Human Resources.
Work Environment
This position is located in a graphite and carbon manufacturing facility. The role requires onsite work from Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.00/hr.
