Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist who will ensure accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll, while maintaining compliance with government regulations. This role involves maintaining the HRIS system to ensure it is up-to-date and accurate.

ResponsibilitiesProcess regular biweekly and all off-cycle payrolls by gathering and organizing changes for the pay period, ensuring all timesheet and PTO approvals are completed, entering and verifying all payments into the payroll batch, reviewing the register, and submitting payroll for processing after final approval.Provide payroll totals to the accounting department and retirement plan administrators.Run HRIS reports as needed.Track and maintain records for over 300 team members, ensuring all components are present and accessible.Set up and maintain security permissions and workflows within the payroll processing system.Ensure multi-state compliance with federal, state, and local payroll wage and hour laws and best practices.Facilitate biweekly payroll audits and HRIS audits as needed with the HR team to maintain accuracy.Maintain written procedures and processes necessary for reference and training materials.Conduct training on HR systems and payroll practices as required.Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve concerns, escalating when necessary.Serve as a backup for other HR team members.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential Skills6 months to 1 year of experience working within an HRIS platform and processing payroll.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.Maintain a high level of confidentiality.Above-average math and Excel skills.Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation skills.Proven ability to identify and solve payroll issues.Self-motivated to provide solutions and escalate issues when appropriate.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working with Paylocity or ADP is a plus.1 year of payroll administration experience.Interest in gaining niche experience in the aviation industry.Work Environment

The position is based onsite in a brand new office in Middletown, CT. The work hours are 9 AM to 5 PM, but may extend to 6:30 or 7:30 PM on payroll days to ensure thorough payroll processing and review. The team consists of five members, providing a collaborative and supportive work environment. The company has experienced significant growth, expanding from 200 to 300 employees in a year. You will receive one-on-one training and have the opportunity to work with a lovely team.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
