Payroll Manager
Location: Vancouver (In office)

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead end‑to‑end payroll operations across multiple provinces, countries, and business lines. This role oversees payroll compliance, drives process improvements, manages vendor relationships, and ensures exceptional service delivery to internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail‑oriented leader with strong technical payroll expertise and the ability to guide and motivate a high‑performing team.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee full‑cycle payroll processing across multiple jurisdictions (Canada, U.S., and various business units)Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with provincial, federal, and international legislationLead payroll audits, year‑end processes, reconciliations, and reportingMaintain and strengthen internal controls, documentation, and payroll governancePartner closely with HR and Finance to validate employee data and support accounting requirementsOversee payroll‑related GL entries, reconciliations, and adjustmentsManage complex payroll inquiries and resolve escalations with a service‑oriented approachLead, coach, and mentor the payroll team; set expectations and drive a culture of accountabilityIdentify and implement process improvements and automation opportunitiesServe as the primary liaison with external payroll/HRIS providers (e.g., Dayforce), including system updates, configuration changes, and contract oversightSupport compensation review cycles, merit increases, rate changes, and other annual processesEnsure proper system configuration related to pay rules, earnings, deductions, and compliance changesProvide payroll subject‑matter expertise to cross‑functional partners and leadershipMust-Have QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field10+ years of progressive senior payroll experience, including multi‑provincial and high‑volume payroll, compliance, terminations, overtime rules, and benefits administrationPayroll Compliance Professional (PCP) or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designationStrong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation2–3 years of experience with enterprise payroll systems (Ceridian or ADP)Intermediate Excel skills (data management, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, formulas)Solid understanding of accounting principles (journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, debits/credits)Proven leadership experience with the ability to train, motivate, and manage staffNice to HaveExperience with Ceridian DayforceUndergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or HRPayroll experience across Ontario, BC, or QuebecFamiliarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Vancouver, BC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
