Payroll Manager
Payroll Manager Location: Vancouver (In office) Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead end‑to‑end payroll operations across multiple provinces, countries, and business lines. This role oversees payroll compliance, drives process improvements, manages vendor relationships, and ensures exceptional service delivery to internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail‑oriented leader with strong technical payroll expertise and the ability to guide and motivate a high‑performing team. Key Responsibilities + Oversee full‑cycle payroll processing across multiple jurisdictions (Canada, U.S., and various business units) + Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with provincial, federal, and international legislation + Lead payroll audits, year‑end processes, reconciliations, and reporting + Maintain and strengthen internal controls, documentation, and payroll governance + Partner closely with HR and Finance to validate employee data and support accounting requirements + Oversee payroll‑related GL entries, reconciliations, and adjustments + Manage complex payroll inquiries and resolve escalations with a service‑oriented approach + Lead, coach, and mentor the payroll team; set expectations and drive a culture of accountability + Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities + Serve as the primary liaison with external payroll/HRIS providers (e.g., Dayforce), including system updates, configuration changes, and contract oversight + Support compensation review cycles, merit increases, rate changes, and other annual processes + Ensure proper system configuration related to pay rules, earnings, deductions, and compliance changes + Provide payroll subject‑matter expertise to cross‑functional partners and leadership Must-Have Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in a related field + 10+ years of progressive senior payroll experience, including multi‑provincial and high‑volume payroll, compliance, terminations, overtime rules, and benefits administration + Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation + Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation + 2–3 years of experience with enterprise payroll systems (Ceridian or ADP) + Intermediate Excel skills (data management, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, formulas) + Solid understanding of accounting principles (journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, debits/credits) + Proven leadership experience with the ability to train, motivate, and manage staff Nice to Have + Experience with Ceridian Dayforce + Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or HR + Payroll experience across Ontario, BC, or Quebec + Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Vancouver, BC.
