Payroll Clerk
Job Title: Payroll ClerkJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Clerk to efficiently manage the bi-weekly payroll processing for both union and non-union employees. This role involves entering, verifying, and auditing employee time records and payroll adjustments, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and collective bargaining agreements. The Payroll Clerk will assist in the administration of Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) reporting and reconciliations, as well as process payroll actions related to new hires, terminations, promotions, and reclassifications.

ResponsibilitiesProcess bi-weekly payroll for union and non-union employees.Enter, verify, and audit employee time records, pay adjustments, and payroll records including earnings, deductions, leave balances, and personnel changes.Assist with administration of Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) reporting and reconciliations.Process payroll actions related to new hires, terminations, promotions, and reclassifications.Calculate overtime, shift differentials, premium pay, and retroactive pay adjustments.Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and leave balances.Assist with preparation of payroll reports, audits, and year-end processing (W-2s).Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and personnel policies.Coordinate payroll data with Human Resources and Finance staff.Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information.Perform related duties as assigned.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or GED required.4-5 years of experience in payroll processing.Experience with automated payroll systems.Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, and applicable regulations.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard office software.Additional Skills & QualificationsPublic-sector payroll experience.Familiarity with Nevada PERS reporting.Experience supporting union and non-union payroll environments.Work Environment

This role involves working in an environment that handles payroll for approximately 300 employees, half of whom are union members. The payroll period runs biweekly, from Sunday to Wednesday, utilizing enterprise ERP systems such as Tyler Technologies Munis. The dress code is professional business attire, reflecting the collaborative and detail-oriented nature of the work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Reno, NV.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
