The position ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits administration. It supports employees and managers in payroll-related inquiries and complies with legal and organizational standards.
ResponsibilitiesProcess bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for salaried, hourly, and contract employees, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies.Maintain payroll records and documentation, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.Administer employee benefits programs, including eligibility, enrollments, terminations, and changes, ensuring accuracy, compliance with policies and regulations, and timely communication with employees and providers.Respond to payroll and benefits inquiries, providing guidance on policies, deductions, and entitlements.Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to reconcile payroll data and prepare ad-hoc payroll/benefit reports for management planning and decision-making purposes as required.Ensure compliance with employment standards, tax regulations, and collective agreements.Conduct regular audits of payroll and benefits data to identify discrepancies and implement corrections.Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and benefits regulations, advising leadership as necessary.Coordinate with third-party vendors, such as payroll service providers and benefits carriers, to ensure seamless processing of payroll and benefits, address discrepancies, and maintain up-to-date information to support accurate and efficient service delivery.Essential SkillsDemonstrated experience with payroll processing, including timekeeping, pay cycle management, direct deposits, statutory deductions, and remittances.Familiarity with interpretation and application of regulatory compliance requirements for payroll and benefits, such as CRA rules, employment standards, and labor laws.Proven experience applying auditing practices for payroll and benefits data to ensure accuracy and compliance.Experience interpreting, applying, and administering benefits administration and related legislation, such as employment standards and tax regulations.Previous experience communicating employee benefits programs to staff and working with insurance companies to resolve issues.Experience applying and administering HR policies related to compensation, leave entitlements, and employee life events.Familiarity with payroll software like ADP and Ceridian, and HRIS systems.Experience in processing payroll for 100-200 employees and unionized environments.Pension (OMERS) and Benefits Experience (Canada Life).Intermediate Excel Skills, including Pivot Tables, H&V Lookups, and formulas.Up-to-date knowledge of Canadian Tax law.2-5 years of experience with ADP Workforce Now.Additional Skills & QualificationsCertified Payroll Professional (PCP) in process.High level of accuracy in processing payroll and benefits to minimize errors and ensure compliance.Critical thinking and execution skills to review payroll and benefits data, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proficiency in payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.Work Environment
The role offers a welcoming office environment with a business casual dress code. Initially, there is a requirement to work in the office five days a week, transitioning to one day working from home after training. Located in West Burlington, the position requires availability during core hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 35-hour work week.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr.
