Job DescriptionThe Payroll Accounting & Tax Supervisor oversees a team of payroll accounting and tax professionals in a shared services environment. This role is crucial for the daily operations related to the accurate and timely processing, analysis, filing, and reporting of payroll tax transactions. The supervisor is committed to delivering outstanding customer service, resolving escalated issues, and maintaining respectful relationships.

ResponsibilitiesSupervise Payroll Accountants and Payroll Tax Accountants, providing guidance and troubleshooting support.Ensure all general accounting tasks are completed accurately and timely.Review complex journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, proposing resolutions to variances.Ensure compliance with all tax and regulatory filing deadlines, and research tax notices and laws.Assist with year-end tasks including W2 processing and printing.Oversee tax returns, payments, and business registrations completed by staff to ensure accuracy.Partner with iSynergy Support for tax updates and testing.Use independent judgment for issue resolution, training, and coaching.Encourage continuous improvement processes within Finance Shared Services.Document and implement new process improvement ideas.Maintain professional knowledge by tracking emerging trends in payroll tax.Engage staff in team-building activities and assist in leading meetings.Assist with new acquisition due diligence and preparation for go-live.Develop training material for new staff.Be available outside of normal business hours for support needs.Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the department.Serve as backup to the Lead and Manager.Essential SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulatory requirements.Strong analytical and organizational abilities.Ability to work independently and under stress.Minimum of five years of accounting and multi-state payroll tax experience.Minimum of two years of supervisory experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent degree, or five years related experience.Proficiency in PeopleSoft is preferred.Knowledge in Blackline is preferred.CPA, Certified Payroll Professional Certification (CPP), or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is preferred.Experience in a finance shared services or healthcare organization is preferred.Work EnvironmentThe role offers a hybrid schedule after some training in an extremely supportive environment. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
