Payroll Accountant

Boise Cascade is seeking a Payroll Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting Department. Reporting to the Payroll Accounting Supervisor, this position plays a critical role in the Company’s payroll and corporate accounting operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 The responsibilities in this role may include the following types of activities:

Prepare journal entries related to payroll processing, as well as miscellaneous monthly and quarterly HR accruals and allocations. Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, including tax filings, quarterly and year-end processing, and general ledger accounts, and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner. Research and analyze data related to payroll taxes. Maintain accurate payroll records and generate reports for management and external vendors. Provide timely and professional customer service for payroll-related inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders. Safeguard the confidentiality of all employee information and payroll records. Participate in various human resource projects requiring payroll data collection, analysis, and reporting. Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities. Uphold a strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental stewardship, and continuous process improvement. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned within the Corporate Finance department.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a solid understanding of accounting principles. 1–2 years of experience in payroll accounting and/or corporate accounting. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners to solve problems and achieve results. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of payroll accounting principles and practices, including payroll tax compliance. Experience with multi-state payroll and tax filings. Familiarity with PeopleSoft (financial ERP) and UKG (payroll) systems.
