Patient Services Coordinator - Flexible Workforce
Job Overview

We are seeking a patient services coordinator (PSC) to join our flexible workforce team with Rehabilitation Services! 

 

This position will travel to up to 25 outpatient rehab clinics across the Twin Cities Metro Area, with a variable schedule. 

 

The ideal PSC is empathetic and has excellent communication skills and compassion to help patients, staff and visitors. Also, a successful PSC is very organized and detail-oriented to manage administrative tasks. The PSC is responsible for scheduling and re-scheduling patients and may serve as the primary receptionist for rehabilitation clinics. This role creates the “first impression” with guests (patients or visitors) through the check-in/out process and scheduling process. This position interacts closely with patients and the multidisciplinary team in a highly organized and professional manner. Ensures the outstanding patient experience is achieved by displaying effective customer service, problem solving and communication skills in a friendly, thoughtful, and empathetic manner. The PSC also performs a variety of clerical functions.

FTE 1.0, authorized for 80 hours per pay period.Schedule: Monday - Friday with variable start and stop times between 6:30am - 6:00pm.Travel up to 25 different sites throughout the metro area! Fairview Rehabilitation offers a broad range of services that serve patients across 10 acute-care hospitals, 3 post-acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs.

 

Responsibilities

Completes scheduling and registration functionsDemonstrates excellent customer service skillsProduces efficient and accurate schedules and associated reportsRecords and updates schedule changes accurately, communicating changes to all involved staffSeeks out solution to time conflicts directly through parties involved and other available resources.Adds pertinent information and documents into the patient recordArrange for interpreter services when appropriateCompletes clerical and reception dutiesAnswers, screens, and responds to telephones callsReviews and routes scans, faxes, inter-departmental or postal service mailTakes and leaves concise messages for patients and responds as requestedMakes new patient packetsPulling and tallying dataWord processingReport developmentDevelops and implements office/department procedures to maintain systems and recordsOrders supplies and monitors par levels for the departmentLocates and orders repairs and service requestsKnowledge of applicable equipment/processesAbility to coordinate and document operational processesMaintains databases, files and records on a regular basis according to established procedureCompletes the Medicare and Medical Assistance certification, as applicableDemonstrates strong communication skillsStrong knowledge and familiarity with the Fairview systemStrong organizational and prioritization skillsAbility to prioritize competing activitiesAdaptabilityRequires access to reliable transportation to be present at various locations to conduct and meet reasonable business needsTravels to and provides care in multiple settings as assignedDemonstrates personal flexibility to meet staffing and patient needsManages unanticipated changes throughout the dayDemonstrates ability to provide care with a variety of clinical populationsCompletes assigned duties prior to transition to subsequent setting and/or establishes handoff for continuity of careAdaptable in responding to demands of multiple processes and supervisors
