• Supports practitioners in providing direct patient care.
• Rooms and prepares patients for examination and treatment.
• Takes patients brief history and vital signs, documents timely in EHR.
• Maintains efficient patient flow and keeps patients informed of any delays.
• Performs routine medical testing: EKG’s, Phlebotomy and Point of Care Testing.
• Monitors the patient’s condition, recognizes abnormal vital signs, and promptly reports changes to the practitioner.
• Participates in daily huddles.
• Determines priorities of care and demonstrates flexibility in responding to patient needs while completing assignments.
• Completes all assignments unless otherwise directed by manager/clinical supervisor/lead.
• Works as a team member in meeting the unit needs.
• Seeks approval for reprioritization of more complex events deviating from original assignment.
• Performs activities as needed without supervision.
• Cleans, stocks and sets up rooms for arriving patients.
• Checks for appropriate patient IDs including falls and allergies. Ensures patient exam rooms are neat and clean.
• Provides emotional support by observing and responding to the emotional needs of the patient and their support network.
• Maintains log of all equipment sent to Clinical Engineering for repair.
• Reports all lost or equipment unable to be repaired to practice manager.
• Keeps equipment clean and charged.
• Adheres to OSHA, Joint Commission, Board of Health and AH standards. Observes and maintains isolation precautions.
• Follows hand washing protocol. Maintains a clean and clutter free work environment.
• Uses and stores equipment properly.
• Must work in a fast-paced environment with positive customer service skills
