As a Patient Access Representative in the Emergency Department, you’re often the first person patients and families interact with during urgent and stressful moments. You bring professionalism, empathy, and accuracy to every interaction—helping patients navigate registration, admissions, and next steps with confidence and care.
Your work plays a critical role in patient safety, billing, and continuity of care, and you do it all while protecting confidentiality and keeping things moving in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do:
Greet and assist patients and families in person and by phone
Register and admit patients for emergency, walk-in, and non-scheduled services
Create or activate patient accounts and enter accurate demographic and insurance information
Verify insurance eligibility and scan required documents
Support bed placement, transfers, and discharges in collaboration with clinical teams
Explain financial responsibility, collect payments when appropriate, and connect patients to financial assistance
Coordinate with case management and providers to ensure proper patient placement
Provide directions and guidance throughout the hospital as needed

Team mindset and attention to detail
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED (or 2 years of applicable experience in lieu of education)
2 years of customer service and/or healthcare experience
