Role Purpose
This position provides Anatomic Pathology services under the direction and supervision of a pathologist. The Pathologists’ Assistant works independently using the medical knowledge to perform human specimen examination for diagnosis and patient treatment. The Pathologists’ Assistant functions in support of and as an adjunct to the physicians in Pathology.
Responsibilities
Specimen Processing: Prepare, describe, dissect, and photograph surgical tissue specimens; ensure accurate accessioning and prepare tissues for histologic processing.Technical and Frozen Section Support: Assist with frozen section procedures, including tissue cutting, slide staining, and specimen transport.Research & Tissue Banking: Identify and collect normal and tumor tissue samples for the Tumor Bank to support both clinical care and research initiatives.Education & Professional Development: Contribute to training of residents and PA students; participate in ongoing education and professional development through programs, workshops, and literature review.Quality Assurance & Professional Development: Ensure equipment maintenance, cleanliness, and supply levels; uphold departmental policies and standards, and actively participate in educational and professional development activities.Minimum Requirements
