Part Time Accounts Payable Clerk
Job Title: Part-Time Accounts Payable Specialist
Job Description

This role involves accurately processing all documentation related to invoice payments and auditing payment requests to ensure proper coding, approvals, appropriateness, timeliness, completeness, and accuracy. The specialist will enter invoices into the accounting system, promote electronic payment methods, process check runs, and create electronic files for the bank and other institutions.

ResponsibilitiesProcess all documentation related to invoice payments accurately.Audit payment requests for coding, approvals, appropriateness, and accuracy.Enter invoices into the accounting system, ensuring correct vendor details.Promote and update vendor records for electronic payment methods.Process check runs for vendors, employees, and students.Create and transmit positive pay and electronic check files.Assist with Educational Foundations check runs.Troubleshoot electronic file transmissions with contacts.Communicate budget shortfalls to cost center managers.Respond to inquiries from vendors and colleagues.Support coworkers during absences and process reimbursements.Assist the supervisor with special projects and year-end closeout.Maintain confidentiality and security of documents and assets.Audit vendor statements and follow up on unpaid invoices.Assist with routine monthly journal entries and void check processing.Fulfill college requirements for staff development and diversity functions.Essential Skills3+ years of experience in accounting or accounts payable.Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.Experience with check processing, electronic payments, and vendor management.Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal departments and vendors.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot electronic file transmissions.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate’s degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.Experience dealing with purchase orders and handling AP communication.Knowledge of ERP systems preferred.Positive personality and solid work ethic.Willingness to cross-train and support team members as needed.Work Environment

The position involves working Tuesday to Thursday for 7.5 hours each day, with some flexibility to adjust hours. The role offers a 37.5-hour work week, four weeks of accrued vacation, a week off between Christmas and New Year, spring break, and four personal days. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
